Afroman Inglewood Concert reviews
B52s rocked the beach!
Last year, I watched the B-52s close out the Austin City Limits festival live online and instantly became a huge fan. This Vegas show was my first chance to catch them live, and it turned out to be one of the best live shows I've seen in awhile. Enlivened by Keith Strickland's signature guitar licks, the rhythm section provided a strong foundation throughout every tune. The band played five tunes from their latest album, Funplex, with the title track included. To me, their new material is every bit as powerful as their classics. "Love Shack" naturally received the most enthusiastic crowd reaction of the evening, while "Pump" and "Let's Get this Party Going On" also stirred excitement. Cindy's and Kate's vocals are amazing and deserved to be showcased— their volume needed to be louder. Other than this minor flaw, this was a great show. The band closed out their set with two of their most powerful classic tunes, "Planet Claire" and "Rock Lobster." Afroman and her band thoroughly satisfied their fans, but I was most wowed by the mighty B-52s— better than ever!
